NHL: San Jose 3, Minnesota 2

ST. PAUL, Minn., April 2 (UPI) -- Logan Coture scored the game-winning goal with 3:51 remaining in the third period Friday, boosting San Jose to a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.

The Sharks maintained a three-point lead over Chicago for the best record in the Western Conference and increased their advantage over Phoenix to six points at the top of the Pacific Division.

San Jose has won five of six, a late-season streak that has followed six straight losses.

Manny Malhotra and Scott Nichol gave the Sharks a 2-0 lead after one period, but Cal Clutterbuck and Antti Miettinen scored 1:49 apart in the second period to tie it.

Couture produced the deciding goal on a wrist shot that escaped Niklas Backstrom.

Evgeni Nabokov made 27 saves in recording his 41st victory. Backstrom stopped 25-of-28 shots.
