PHILADELPHIA, April 2 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles traded cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to the Cleveland Browns for linebacker Alex Hall and two draft picks.
The Eagles received the Browns' fourth- and fifth-round choices in the upcoming NFL draft, giving Philadelphia 10 selections in the 2010 draft.
Brown and Gocong were both starters for Philadelphia who had spent all their careers with the Eagles. Brown had been with the team eight seasons, getting 19 interceptions and 431 tackles. He had five interceptions and 51 tackles last season. Gocong had 44 tackles and one sack last season, his fourth with Philadelphia.
Hall was with Cleveland for two years and had 10 tackles in 2009.
"Sheldon and Chris have been nothing but professionals on and off the field during their tenure in Philadelphia and we wish them all the best as they continue their careers in Cleveland," Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman said on the team Web site.
"Alex Hall is a big, athletic linebacker who we've had our eyes on over the last couple of years and he'll have a chance to compete at the (strong side) linebacker spot."
