NHL: Minnesota 3, Los Angeles 2

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 30 (UPI) -- Martin Havlat's third-period goal was the game-winner Monday as the Minnesota Wild defeated Los Angeles 3-2.

Havlat's goal came at the 7:38 mark of the final frame while Minnesota was on a power play with the Kings' Fredrik Modin off for holding.

Owen Nolan and Brent Burns also tallied for the Wild while Niklas Backstrom contributed 29 saves in the victory.

Los Angeles got a pair of goals from Scott Parse and Jonathan Quick stopped 17-of-20 shots in the defeat, the Kings' fourth straight. They remained one point behind idle Detroit for the sixth playoff spot in the Western Conference.
