NHL: Boston 1, New Jersey 0 (OT)

NEWARK, N.J., March 30 (UPI) -- Patrice Bergeron scored with 18.3 seconds left in overtime Tuesday, giving the Boston Bruins a 1-0 victory over New Jersey.

The winning goal came after Boston's Mark Stuart fired a shot from the right circle that hit teammate Mark Recchi in front of the net and bounced to a wide open Bergeron. The Bruins forward slid it into an empty net for the game-winner.

Tuukka Rask recorded his fifth shutout of the season, notching 21 saves as Bruins won their fourth game in six ties and pulled into a tie with idle Philadelphia and Montreal for sixth place in the East, all with 82 points.

The win also allowed Boston to maintain its two-point lead over ninth place Atlanta, which downed Toronto Tuesday.

Martin Brodeur made 33 saves in New Jersey's loss.
