NHL: New Jersey 4, Montreal 2

MONTREAL, March 27 (UPI) -- Dainius Zubrus' goal late in the second period proved the decisive tally Saturday as the New Jersey Devils downed Montreal 4-2.

Martin Brodeur stopped 25 shots while Patrik Elias, Brian Rolston and Jamie Langenbrunner each chipped in with goals for the Devils, who clinched a playoff berth with the win, pulling into a tie with Pittsburgh atop the Atlantic Division with 93 points.

Montreal got goals from Andrei Kostitsyn and Tomas Plekanec as the Canadiens dropped their fourth game in five contests but hung onto sixth place in the East, two points ahead of both Boston and Philadelphia.

Jaroslav Halak gave up three goals on 25 shots in the Canadiens' defeat.
