ST. LOUIS, March 25 (UPI) -- A 30-save effort from Chris Mason Thursday helped the St. Louis Blues keep their slim playoff chances alive with a 3-1 victory over Los Angeles.
Paul Kariya had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who despite the win are still eight points behind Detroit for the final post-season berth in the Western Conference.
Los Angeles slipped from fifth to sixth in the playoff chase. Nashville passed the Kings by recording a shootout victory over Phoenix.
B.J. Crombeen and T.J. Oshie also scored for St. Louis, which took a 2-0 lead into the third period.
The loss went to Jonathan Quick, who stopped 23 shots. The lone Los Angeles goal came from Dustin Brown.
