NHL: Boston 5, Carolina 2

RALEIGH, N.C., March 16 (UPI) -- Mark Recchi, David Krejci and Michael Ryder each had a goal and an assist Tuesday, pacing the Boston Bruins to 5-2 win over Carolina.

Patrice Bergeron and Johnny Boychuk also scored for the Bruins, who with the victory took a three-point lead over the New York Rangers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

New York was playing Montreal Tuesday.

Tuukka Rask turned aside 30 shots in the win, only the second in six games for Boston.

The Hurricanes were led by Eric Cole, who netted both of their goals in the defeat.
