COL BKB: Mississippi St. 62, Vanderbilt 52

NASHVILLE, March 13 (UPI) -- Barry Stewart notched 14 points Saturday, leading Mississippi State to a 62-52 upset of No. 23 Vanderbilt in an SEC Tournament semifinal.

Stewart grabbed eight boards while Jarvis Varnado scored 11 points, hauled down nine rebounds and made six blocks as the Bulldogs (23-10) gained the SEC finals.

They will face Kentucky, which defeated Tennessee earlier in the day in the other semifinal.

Dee Bost chipped in 11 points for Mississippi State, which downed the Volunteers in last year's title game and will look to win its fourth SEC crown.

Jermaine Beal scored 11 points while Jeffery Taylor chipped in with eight rebounds for the Commodores (24-8). Brad Tinsley added nine points as Vandy shot an anemic 34.6 percent from the floor.
