Michael Frolik got a third-period goal to cut the Panthers' deficit to 2-1. Goalie Tomas Vokoun faced only 11 shots from Minnesota, a franchise-record low total for the Wild.

Mikko Koivu and Robbie Earl scored for Minnesota while Backstrom had 29 saves in the defeat.
