Jason Terry to have facial surgery

DALLAS, March 4 (UPI) -- The Dallas Mavericks announced Thursday that guard Jason Terry would undergo surgery to repair damage inflicted by an elbow to his face.

The incident occurred Wednesday during what turned out to be the ninth consecutive victory for the Mavericks, a 112-109 decision over Minnesota.

Terry, who led Dallas in scoring in that game with 26 points, collided with Minnesota's Corey Brewer during the third quarter.

Terry's left eye was almost swollen shut when he left the arena. The team said doctors would determine how much time Terry would miss after the facial surgery is performed on Friday.
