NBA: Denver 107, Detroit 102

DENVER, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Chauncey Billups netted 25 points and Carmelo Anthony added 24 Friday as the Denver Nuggets downed Detroit 107-102.

J.R. Smith scored 15 points and Joey Graham added 13 off the bench for Denver, which broke a seven-game losing streak against the Pistons. Arron Afflalo contributed 14 points in the Nuggets' win, in which they outscored Detroit at the foul line by a 29-14 margin.

The Nuggets broke open a close game with a 10-2 run late in the contest. The spurt ended with a Billups 3-pointer and a basket from Anthony that gave Denver a 102-95 lead with 1:36 remaining.

The Pistons were led by Richard Hamilton's 20 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Rodney Stuckey chipped in with 19 points and seven caroms in the loss.
