COL BKB: Texas A&M 74, Texas 58

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Donald Sloan and David Loubeau teamed up for 34 points Saturday to power No. 23 Texas A&M to a 74-58 win over intrastate rival No. 21 Texas.

Sloan netted 19, Loubeau added 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Ray Turner chipped in with nine points off the bench for the Aggies (20-8, 9-5 Big 12), winners of six of their last eight games.

The game was decided early when, after Turner gave the Aggies a 13-7 lead near the midway point of the first half, Texas A&M struck for six straight points to extended their lead to 13 points.

Texas (22-7, 8-6) rarely challenged after that, trailing 31-23 at halftime. Damion James led the Longhorns with 12 points and Jordan Hamilton added 10 more.

Aggies guard B.J. Holmes was taken off the court on a stretcher after colliding with Texas guard J'Covan Brown in the lane late in the game. Holmes hit his head on the court and sustained a leg injury in the mishap.
