Beckman rallies for Mayakoba victory

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Cameron Beckman came from behind Sunday to post a two-stroke victory at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Riviera Maya-Cancun, Mexico.

Trailing at the start to Joe Durant, Beckman caught up and passed the leader on the 15th hole when Durant bogeyed. Beckman later birdied No. 17 after a memorable sand-wedge approach and was up two shots with one hole to go.

Durant failed to make any birdies after that and Beckman parred the final hole to take home the title -- his third on the PGA Tour to go along with wins at the 2001 Southern Farm Bureau Classic and 2008 Frys.com Open.

"Winning out here is tough," said Beckman, who won $648,000 in the victory. "There's really no easy way do it. I've done it a couple different ways now, but it's a great feeling."
