COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Steve Mason stopped 40 shots Wednesday, backstopping the Columbus Blue Jackets' 3-0 win over San Jose that ended the Sharks' nine-game road winning streak.

It was Mason's second shutout in three games since interim Coach Claude Noel replaced the fired Ken Hitchcock Feb. 3.

Columbus got goals from Rick Nash (26) in the first period, Jakub Voracek (9) in the second and Antoine Vermette 19 (empty net) in the third.

Goalkeeper Thomas Greiss was beaten twice on 20 shots for the Pacific Division-leading Sharks, who failed in their quest to equal a club-record 10-game road winning streak, set Feb. 21-March 18, 2008.

San Jose left wing Dany Heatley had scored at least one point in seven straight games, but Wednesday, he did not take a shot.
