NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- A 25-point effort by Darren Collision Wednesday helped New Orleans fight off Boston 93-85.
The Hornets added to the euphoria in the home of the new Super Bowl champions by knocking off the Celtics in the opener of their five-game road trip.

New Orleans outscored Boston by 17 in the third period to overcome a 12-point deficit. Peja Stojakovic added 20 points for the Hornets and Morris Peterson had 16.
Paul Pierce was Boston's leading scorer with 15, but he made just 4-of-11 shots from the field. The Celtics attempted eight shots from 3-point range and converted one.
Boston will also visit Sacramento, the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland and Denver on the road swing. The Celtics are 17-8 away from home.
