MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Outfielder Jacque Jones has been signed by his former team, the Minnesota Twins, to a minor-league deal, the team said Tuesday.
The deal includes an invitation to spring training for Jones, who made his Major League debut with the Twins in 1999.
Jones, 34, played seven years with Minnesota, six as an everyday outfielder. His best season with the Twins came in 2002 when he helped the team advance to the ALCS by slugging 27 homers, driving in 85 runs and batting .300.
Over 1,302 career games with the Twins, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers and Florida Marlins, Jones batted .277 with 255 doubles, 19 triples, 165 home runs and 630 RBI.
He was out of baseball last season.
The Twins also announced outfielder Jason Pridie was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets. Pridie's spot on the 40-man roster was filled by the recent signing of Orlando Hudson.
