NHL: Chicago 2, St. Louis 1

ST. LOUIS, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Antti Niemi made two first-period goals stand up Saturday and the Chicago Blackhawks recorded a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.

The goals were scored by Patrick Sharp (17) at 5:33 and Jonathan Toews (19) at the 15:51 mark.

Niemi was credited with 34 saves on 35 shots for the Blackhawks, who snapped a three-game losing streak, but rose to 31-6-3 this season when scoring first.

They also avenged a 3-2 home loss to the Blues on Jan. 3.

St. Louis' goal was scored by Alexander Steen (14) during a 5-on-3 power play with just under two minutes left in regulation.

Net-minder Chris Mason surrendered two goals on 30 shots for the Blues, who lost for the second straight time.
