COL BKB: Duke 86, Georgia Tech 67

DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Kyle Singler led a Duke surge late in the first half Thursday and the No. 9 Blue Devils pulled away to down 19th-ranked Georgia Tech 86-67.

Duke lost to Georgia Tech by four when the teams met in Atlanta on Jan. 9 and the Yellow Jackets trailed in this game by only three with 6 minutes remaining in the opening period.

The Blue Devils then closed the half on a 15-6 run, during which Singler made two 3-pointers.

Singler hit 9-of-17 shots and scored 30 points, Jon Scheyer added 21 and Nolan Smith 14. The Blue Devils made 12-of-18 attempts from 3-point range.

Duke improved to 18-4 for the season and 6-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference action. Virginia and Maryland also have two losses in league play and every other conference member has at least three setbacks.

Zachery Peacock led Georgia Tech (16-6, 4-4) with 11 points.
