COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Fredrik Modin's third-period goal gave Columbus the margin of victory Tuesday as the Blue Jackets held on for a 3-2 win over Nashville.
Modin's tally, with assists from Jan Hejda and Mike Commodore 8:39 into the final period, gave Columbus a seemingly comfortable 3-0 lead, but Martin Erat scored less than 2 minutes later and Patric Hornqvist got the Predators to within a goal with about 5 minutes to go.
The Blue Jackets held on the rest of the way for the win. Kristian Huselius and Derick Brassard also tallied for Columbus while Steve Mason held on in the final minutes, stopping 29-of-31 shots for the game.
Nashville dropped its fourth straight game, with Pekka Rinne allowing three goals on 17 shots.
