PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins broke a tie on Matt Cooke's power-play goal with 1:47 to play Sunday and hung on to edge the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1.
The Penguins then held off the Flyers, who pulled their goalie and had a two-man advantage for most of the final minute.
Gonchar put in the other Penguins goal, also on a power play, and Jeff Carter scored for Philadelphia, both in the first period.
Brent Johnson turned in 27 saves in the Penguins fourth win in six games.
Ray Emery blocked 20 shots for the Flyers, who had won their previous three contests.
