NHL: Montreal 6, New York Rangers 0

MONTREAL, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A pair of goals by Michael Cammalleri and 32 saves by Jaroslav Halak helped Montreal cruise to a 6-0 win over the visiting New York Rangers Saturday.

The Canadiens scored four goals in the second period and won their second consecutive game after dropping three in a row.

Scott Gomez, Benoit Pouliot, Maxim Lapierre and Tomas Plekanec also notched goals.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist got off on the wrong foot by giving up four goals on 15 shots in a 27-minute span. Matt Zaba took over and gave up two power-play goals on 16 shots in his NHL debut.

Gomez opened the scoring at 9:05 of the first period. Montreal then racked up four goals in the second period and added a power-play goal by Plekanec in the rough-and-tumble third period.
