COL BKB: Purdue 69, Michigan 59

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore combined for scored 40 points Saturday, keying 17th-ranked Purdue's 69-59 Big Ten win over Michigan.

Johnson finished with 21 points and Moore had 19 for the Boilermakers (16-3, 4-3 Big Ten), who have righted themselves with back-to-back victories after three straight losses. Robbie Hummel contributed 13 and seven rebounds.

DeShawn Sims led the Wolverines (10-9, 3-4) with 21 points and Zack Novak added 16.

Michigan played the Boilermakers close in the first half and led 11-10 a little over 5 minutes into the game. But Purdue started to take control from that point and led 43-27 at the half. Johnson then scored nine of Purdue's points on a 16-5 run to make it 59-32 7:19 into the second half and the Wolverines couldn't catch up despite an 18-5 surge that got them within 64-50 with 5:06 remaining.
