COL BKB: Georgetown 88, Rutgers 63

WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Greg Monroe's 21 points and 14 rebounds Saturday paced 14th-ranked Georgetown in an 88-63 Big East Conference rout of Rutgers.

Monroe sank 10-of-12 shots and added six assists to his eighth double-double this season.

The Hoyas opened an 11-6 cushion on the way to a 46-29 halftime lead and built it to 53-29 in the first 93 seconds of the second stanza.

From that point, the Scarlet Knights continued to face a double-digit deficit.

Chris Wright scored 16, Austin Freeman 14 and Julian Vaughn 12 for the Hoyas (15-3, 6-2), who improved to 9-0 at home.

Jonathan Mitchell led Rutgers with 21 points. Mike Rosario scored 15 points, while Hamady Ndiaye added 10 with seven rebounds and three assists for the Scarlet Knights (9-10, 0-7), who have lost eight in a row and are the only team without a conference victory.
