COL BKB: Connecticut 88, Texas 74

STORRS, Conn., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Jerome Dyson scored 32 points and No. 21 Connecticut avoided second-half turnovers Saturday in an 88-74 comeback upset of top-ranked Texas.

The Huskies found themselves in a 42-34 hole at the break, after committing 16 of their 19 turnovers in the first 20 minutes. They then used a 54-32 second half to hand the Longhorns their second straight loss.

Connecticut's Kemba Walker negated eight personal turnovers with 19 points, 10 assists and six steals. Stanley Robinson scored 17 with 12 rebounds and Gavin Edwards added 11 points for the Huskies (13-6), who have won their last two contests.

Associate head Coach George Blaney rose to 2-0 while head Coach Jim Calhoun continues his medical leave.

Damion James led Texas with 23 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Avery Bradley, the only other player in double figures, scored 15 for the 17-2 Longhorns.
