FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Former major league player and manager Bobby Bragan has died at his home in Fort Worth, officials said. He was 92.
A cause of death of the man called "Mr. Baseball" was not been disclosed, but the Tarrant County, Texas, Medical Examiner's Web site said he died a few hours after emergency personnel were called to his home late Thursday.
Bragan was an infielder and catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1940-42 and was later traded to the Brooklyn Dodgers before finishing his playing days.
He started managing with the Fort Worth Cats minor league team from 1948-52, became Pittsburgh's manager in 1956, and later managed Milwaukee, Cleveland and Atlanta.
"I've always said that Bobby was the first one to let me do some things on the field I always wanted to do," former home run king and Hall of Famer Hank Aaron told MLB.com.
Aaron played for Bragan in Milwaukee.
Also, the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to eighth-graders.
