COL BKB: Kansas 81, Baylor 75

LAWRENCE, Kan., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Sherron Collins hit five 3-pointers and scored 28 points Wednesday, helping No. 3 Kansas fight off Baylor 81-75.

The Jayhawks found themselves tied at halftime and their home winning streak, which was eventually extended to 53 games, appeared in jeopardy.

Quincy Acy scored on a dunk with 3 minutes remaining to move Baylor back into a tie but Collins put Kansas in front for good 19 seconds later with a layup. His 3-pointer with 1:13 to go gave the Jayhawks a five-point cushion.

Kansas improved to 17-1 and is the only unbeaten team in Big 12 Conference play at 3-0. Baylor fell to 14-3 and 2-2.

Marcus Morris added 18 points for Kansas, which was held to 43 percent shooting. Baylor hit 54 percent of its shots and outrebounded Kansas by eight but turned the ball over 13 more times than did the Jayhawks.

One of the games of the year in college basketball looms Jan. 30 when Kansas travels to ninth-ranked Kansas State, which this week handed No. 1 Texas its first loss of the campaign.
