COL BKB: Syracuse 84, Notre Dame 71

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Fifth-ranked Syracuse, led by Wes Johnson with 22 points and Andy Rautins with 21, won its fifth straight game Monday, taking down Notre Dame 84-71.

Rautins scored 15 of his points in the first half, which ended with the Orange ahead by seven points.

Syracuse (18-1, 5-1 Big East) led by just five, 67-62, with just over 3 minutes remaining in the game but managed to pull away.

Arinze Onuaku added 13 points for the Orange.

Luke Harangody topped all scorers with 31 points for the Fighting Irish (14-5, 3-3).

Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis connected on five 3-point shots and finished with 26 points.
