COL BKB: Pittsburgh 67, Connecticut 57

HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Ashton Gibbs and Brad Wanamaker scored 19 points apiece Wednesday, leading 20th-ranked Pittsburgh to a 67-57 Big East Conference win over No. 15 Connecticut.

Gibbs' 3-pointer gave Pitt a 55-51 advantage with 4:06 left and his two free throws secured the victory with 11 seconds remaining.

Pittsburgh led 32-29 at the break and trailed only once in the second half.

Gilbert Brown scored 11 points, Gibbs had four rebounds and three assists, while Wannamaker added four rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Panthers (14-2, 4-0 Big East), who have won seven in a row -- and their last five road games dating back to last season.

Stanley Robinson led Connecticut with 19 points.

Jerome Dyson scored 14 with three assists, and Kemba Walker scored 10 with seven rebounds and seven assists for the Huskies (11-5, 2-3), who have lost their last two games, including a 72-69 setback at Georgetown Saturday.
