COL BKB: Miss. State 80, Mississippi 75

OXFORD, Miss., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Dee Bost scored 25 points Saturday, rallying Mississippi State to an 80-75 upset of No. 16 Mississippi.

Ole Miss led halfway through the second half before the Bulldogs tied it at 59-59 on a tip-in by Jarvis Varnado with under 9 minutes to go. Ravern Johnson gave them a seven-point cushion with a 3-pointer that made it 72-65 with 3 minutes left.

Varnado finished with nine points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots, and Johnson had 15 points. Kodi Augustus added 13 points and a dozen rebounds, and Barry Stewart had 11 points for MSU (13-2, 1-0 SEC).

The Rebels (12-3, 0-1 SEC) got 15 points from Chris Warren, 14 from Zach Graham and 12 from Terrance Henry.
