NBA: Minnesota 116, Indiana 109

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Jonny Flynn scored seven points in a 21-0 Minnesota run during the third period Friday that lifted the Timberwolves to a 116-109 victory over Indiana.

Minnesota halted a five-game losing streak and won for the eighth time this season. Only New Jersey, with three, has fewer victories than the Timberwolves.

Al Jefferson scored 25 points to go with 12 rebounds and Kevin Love had 18 points for Minnesota. Flynn finished with 18.

Minnesota trailed 67-63 before embarking on its big run and held the Pacers scoreless for almost 6 minutes.

Indiana lost for the 10th time in 12 games. The Pacers were led by Troy Murphy with 21. He returned to the lineup after missing four games with an ankle injury.
