NBA: Dallas 112, San Antonio 103

SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas to a 42-point fourth quarter Friday that rallied the Mavericks to a 112-103 victory over San Antonio.

The Spurs led by 10 starting the final period but Nowitzki made 7-of-12 shots in the quarter -- after hitting only 3-of-16 through the first three. He scored 16 of his 26 points during the closing 12 minutes.

Jason Terry added 21 points and Erick Dampier had 14 in helping Dallas to its third win in four games. The Mavericks increased their lead over San Antonio in the Southwest Division to three games.

Tim Duncan paced San Antonio with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Tony Parker had 21.

The Mavericks scored the first six points of the fourth quarter and Terry put Dallas in front for good at 95-92 on a 3-pointer with 4:44 to play.
