PITTSBURGH, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Jordan Staal scored two goals Tuesday to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to 5-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.
Staal also had an assist while Ruslan Fedotenko added a goal and an assist for the Penguins, who broke a five-game losing streak.

Kris Letang and Luca Caputi each found the net for Pittsburgh, which benefited from 31 saves by Marc-Andre Fleury.
The Thrashers got a pair of goals from Jim Slater in the course of their ninth straight loss, the first time Atlanta has lost that many in a row since Oct. 11-29, 2002. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 32-of-37 shots for the Thrashers.
