NHL: New Jersey 5, Minnesota 3

ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Jamie Langenbrunner's hat trick helped carry the New Jersey Devils past Minnesota 5-3 Saturday.

Jay Pandolfo scored the game-winning goal in the third period for the Devils, who have won three of their last four games.

Dean McAmmond scored the other New Jersey goal in support of Martin Bordeur, who stopped 29-of-32 shots.

Minnesota had goals from Eric Belanger, Mikko Koivu and Andrew Brunette but lost for the third time in its last four games.

Langenbrunner scored twice in the second period and once in the third for his first career hat trick.

Pandolfo connected at 11:35 of the third period to give the Devils a 4-2 lead. Rob Niedermayer set the stage for the decisive goal by bringing the puck to the crease despite being marked closely by two Minnesota defenders.
