Marquette (9-5, 0-2) got 19 points from Jimmy Butler, and 17 points and 14 rebounds from Lazar Hayward.

The Golden Eagles led 71-69 when Butler hit two free throws with 1:49 left but Redding answered with two free throws of his own. Hayward later made 1-of-2 free throws but Reynolds followed with his key jumper from inside the free-throw line to make it 73-72 with 18.1 seconds left.
