EDMONTON, Alberta, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Rene Bourque produced a hat trick for Calgary, powering the Flames to a 4-1 win Monday over Edmonton, extending the Oilers' losing streak to seven games.
Bourque scored his goals consecutively. He tied the game with 1:02 left in the first period, sent Calgary ahead to stay on a power play midway through the second and scored again, with the Flames shorthanded, 5 1/2 minutes into the third.
A Mark Giordano slapshot provided the final goal for Calgary, which has won just twice in its last eight games..
Edmonton's Ryan Potulny notched the first goal of the game 2:02 into the opening period, but the Oilers were shut out the rest of the way by Miikka Kiprusoff, who stopped 34 shots.
Jeff Deslauriers made 19 saves for Edmonton.
