GLENDALE, Ariz., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The Phoenix Coyotes continued their run at first place in the Pacific Division Saturday with a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Keith Yandle scored with 10:40 to play to give the Coyotes their third consecutive win and pull within a point of front-running San Jose.
Dustin Brown and Michal Handzus scored for the Kings, who have lost three of their last four. Jonathan Quick had 32 saves.
After Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead, the Coyotes responded with goals by Aucoin and Hansel to take the lead with 6:04 to play in the first period.
The Kings tied the contest early in the third on Handy's power-play goal, but Yandle followed up his own shot by knocking in the rebound and putting Phoenix in the lead.
Los Angeles took advantage of two penalties on Phoenix late in the game by pulling Quick and launching a 6-on-3 attack that failed to tie it.
