Police: Case into Henry's death still open

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Police in the area of Charlotte, N.C., said the investigation into the death of NFL wide receiver Chris Henry is still open.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Deputy Chief David Graham said investigators want to re-examine the details surrounding the Dec. 16 incident that claimed the Cincinnati Bengals player's life, The Charlotte Observer said Thursday.

Any possible charges in the death of the 26-year-old wide receiver would likely not be filed until 2010, Graham said.

Henry suffered fatal injuries when he fell from a pickup truck driven by his fiancee, Loleini Tonga, 25. Authorities have yet to officially determine if the NFL player slipped or jumped from the truck or was thrown from the vehicle.

Henry was visiting Tonga in Charlotte when the incident took place. The receiver was on injured reserve with the Bengals due to a broken arm.

Graham said Tonga will be reinterviewed as part of the ongoing investigation, but he said he did not expect any charges to be filed in the case, the Observer reported.
