NHL: Dallas 3, Columbus 1

DALLAS, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- James Neal scored the go-ahead goal in the second period Wednesday and added an insurance tally in the third, giving the Dallas Stars a 3-1 win over Columbus.

The Stars won for the second time in six games while the Blue Jackets suffered their eighth straight setback.

Jamie Benn had the other Dallas goal and Alex Auld made 33 saves to get the win.

Steve Mason stopped 25-of-28 shots for Columbus.

Neal emerged from a scramble in front of the goal to give Dallas a 2-1 lead 6:18 into the second. He collected a rebound from a Brad Richards shot in the third and scored his 17th goal of the season.

Columbus is 2-11-5 since winning in Dallas Nov. 19.
