ALBUQUERQUE, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Darington Hobson's 22 points and 16 rebounds Saturday led 19th-ranked and unbeaten New Mexico to a 66-61 win over Creighton.
The victory was not without drama because Creighton wasted a 40-28 halftime advantage.
The Lobos needed Phillip McDonald's two free throws with 40 seconds left to secure the win.
Dairese Gary scored 12 with three rebounds.
Roman Martinez scored 11 points with 10 rebounds, while Hodson added six assists for the Lobos (12-0), who also started 12-0 in the 1973-74 season.
They went 7-of-34 from the field in the first half.
P'Allen Stinnett led Creighton with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Darryl Ashford scored 13 with three rebounds, and Kenny Lawson added 12 with four rebounds for the Bluejays (4-6), who have lost two of three.
Creighton committed 18 turnovers to just five for the Lobos.
