NBA: Houston 107, Detroit 96

HOUSTON, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- The Houston Rockets got 23 points apiece from Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola Tuesday and topped the Detroit Pistons 107-96.

Tracy McGrady saw his first action since suffering a knee injury last winter and hit a 3-pointer during almost 8 minutes of action during an 18-4 Houston run in the first quarter.

Carl Landry came off the bench and contributed 19 points to Houston's third win in its last four games.

Richard Hamilton, playing in his third game of the season, led Detroit with 21 points. Rodney Stuckey added 17.

McGrady came into the game in a pivotal first quarter than ended with the Rockets enjoying a 10-point lead. Detroit whittled the Rockets' 19-point lead in the second quarter down to nine at halftime.

Detroit cut the Houston lead to 72-64 late in the third quarter but Chase Budinger -- who had 16 points and a dozen rebounds in his first career start -- jammed down a slam dunk that choked off the Pistons' rally.
