Wie falls short at Dubai golf event

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- South Korea's In Kyung Kim shot 4-under-par 68 Saturday and beat American Michelle Wie by three strokes to win the Dubai Ladies Masters golf tournament.

Kim's winning total after 72 holes was 18-under 270 to 15-under 273 for Wie, whose 7-under 65 Saturday put her in position to win a tournament for the second time in a month.

Wie trailed by two strokes at the 18th, but her late charge fell short.

"I felt like I tried my hardest out there and I gave it my all," Wie said. "I feel like I had a good run going."

"I'm very excited to win this week," Kim said. "Michelle had a great run."

Maria Hjorth (68) was third at 14-under 274, four strokes behind Kim on the Majlis Course at the United Emirates Golf Club.
