NHL: New Jersey 4, Philadelphia 1

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Patrik Elias and Niclas Bergfors scored two goals apiece Saturday in New Jersey's 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Elias scored his 300th career goal in the victory, which was New Jersey's fifth win in its last six games.

Martin Brodeur stopped all but one of the 23 shots he faced at Prudential Center.

Philadelphia, which lost 10 of its last dozen games, had a goal from Claude Giroux and 18 saves from Brian Boucher.

The Atlantic Division-leading Devils scored three goals in the first period to take control of the contest early. Bergfors opened the scoring at 2:33 of the period and then scored on a rebound at 12:33 of the first to make it 2-0.

Elias tallied his 300th NHL goal at 15:47 on a one-timer that put New Jersey up 3-0.

After Giroux made it 3-1 with a power-play goal late in the second period and Elias scored his second goal of the night on a two-on-one break with 33.1 seconds to play in the period.
