MALELANE, South Africa, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Pablo Martin shot 9-under-par 63 Friday and built a 4-stroke lead after two rounds of the European PGA Tour's Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa.
Martin closed his round at the Leopard Creek Country Club with an eagle 3 in jumping from a first-round tie for 14th to the halfway-point lead. He's at 13-under 131.
Ernie Els had a 5-under 67 and Edoardo Molinari a 3-under 69 Friday and are tied for second at 9-under. First-round leader Ulrich Van den Berg is among four golfers tied for fourth at 8-under. Another five players are at 7-under 137.
Martin was at 3-under for the day when he bogeyed the par-4 eighth hole for the second consecutive round. But he bounced back with a birdie at No. 9 and made the turn at 4-under 32.
He had four birdies over the five-hole span from 11-15. After a pair of pars, Martin finished the day with an eagle at the 541-yard, par-5 18th hole for a second-nine total of 31.
Els' round included eight birdies and three bogeys while Molinari missed a chance to take second place by himself when he had a bogey at No. 18.
