WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Chris Wright and Henry Sims scored 12 points each Saturday, boosting 14th-ranked Georgetown to a 73-46 win over American.
Georgetown used its starters sparingly after building an early 32-16 lead, and American trailed 63-32 with just under 8 minutes remaining.
Julian Vaughn had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Greg Monroe, Jason Clark and Austin Freeman each scored nine points for the Hoyas (6-0).
Monroe also had 13 rebounds and blocked four shots.
The Hoyas face 20th-ranked Butler at the Jimmy V Classic Tuesday in New York.
Nick Hendra led American with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Riley Grafft and Daniel Munoz scored eight points apiece for the Eagles (1-8), who shot just 27.1 percent and committed 13 turnovers.
