NHL: Pittsburgh 8, New York Rangers 3

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby contributed a hat trick and two assists to Pittsburgh's 8-3 thumping of the New York Rangers Saturday.

Crosby tallied the fourth hat trick of his career and Evgeni Malkin added a goal and an assist to the effort, in which the Penguins outshot the Rangers 33-25.

Mark Eaton, Pascal Dupuis, Maxime Talbot and Tyler Kennedy also scored for Pittsburgh. Marc-Andre Fleury had 22 saves.

New York had goals from Marc Staal, Michal Rozsival and Matt Gilroy. Stephen Valiquette was touched for all eight goals.

Rozsival's goal 33 seconds into the third period cut the Penguins' lead to 4-3, but Pittsburgh erupted for four more goals in the period. Crosby's second goal at 3:14 of the period proved to be the winner. Crosby scored again at 11:29 to complete the hat trick.

Pittsburgh had a man advantage for the final 6:14 of the game but failed to score.
