Ronaldo hopes to play in 'Clasico'

MADRID, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Cristiano Ronaldo of Spain's Real Madrid soccer club said he hopes to play in the upcoming game against Barcelona despite his recent injury.

Ronaldo, who returned to the field after an ankle injury in the second half of Wednesday's 1-0 win against Switzerland's FC Zurich, said he is hoping to play in Sunday's "El Clasico" game against the team's Spanish rivals, CNN reported Thursday.

"I'm tired because I'm still not at 100 percent, but I'm sure I will return to be how I was before the injury -- scoring goals, having good games and helping the team," said Ronaldo, who became the most expensive soccer player in the world with his $130 million signing to Real Madrid.

"I want to play in the Clasico if I feel good, although that is the reasonability of the coach. In any case, with or without me, the team are first in La Liga and in their Champions League group," he said.

The player returned to training Friday after being out for two months with ankle problems.
