STILLWATER, Okla., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Oklahoma State University learned Tuesday that wide receiver Dez Bryant will remain suspended for the rest of the season, the Oklahoman reported.
The newspaper said the university was informed by the NCAA that there would be no reinstatement this year.
Bryant had dinner earlier this year with former NFL player Deion Sanders. Fearing the visit might be against NCAA rules, Bryant lied to school officials and said he did not attend the dinner.
After learning there was nothing in the NCAA rulebook preventing such contact, Bryant admitted to the meeting. The NCAA decided that lying about the incident was enough to rule him ineligible, which the organization did on Oct. 7.
The NCAA said Bryant would be eligible to play again in September, 2010.
Oklahoma State had hoped to have Bryant back in time for a key game against Texas this Saturday.
