NHL: Calgary 5, Edmonton 2

CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Two goals by Nigel Dawes helped carry the Calgary Flames past Edmonton 5-2 Saturday.

Dawes' goal at 3:53 of the second period broke a 1-1 tie and put Calgary ahead for good.

Rene Borque had a goal and two assists for Calgary and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 32 shots. Eric Nystrom and David Moss also scored.

"It was a pretty solid hockey game," said Flames Coach Brent Sutter.

Lubomir Visnovsky and Dustin Penner scored the Edmonton goals while Nikolai Khabibulin allowed five goals on 38 shots in the loss.

Visnovsky gave Edmonton the early lead with a power-play goal 2:25 into the game, but Calgary answered with four consecutive goals and kept the Oilers off the board until Penner scored at 18:35 of the second period.
