NHL: Los Angeles 4, Dallas 1

DALLAS, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Ryan Smyth scored on the power play Monday to ignite a three-goal second period that brought the Los Angeles Kings a 4-1 victory over Dallas.

The Kings ended a three-game losing streak.

Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick surrendered a goal to Jamie Benn with 2:42 left in the first period and was perfect the rest of the way while making 29 saves.

Smyth tipped in a shot by Dustin Brown 5:17 into the second period to tie it and then assisted on the other two Los Angeles goals in the stanza.

Justin Williams put the Kings in front with 6:34 to go in the second and Anze Kopitar scored with 4:01 remaining.

Wayne Simmonds added an empty-net goal with 1:37 left in the third period.

Marty Turco gave up three goals on 31 shots.
