NHL: Boston 4, NY Islanders 3 (SO)

BOSTON, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Boston rallied from a three-goal deficit Saturday and Marc Savard had the game-winner in a shootout, giving the Bruins a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.

New York goaltender Dwayne Roloson took a shutout past the midway mark of the third period, at which point the Islanders owned a 3-0 lead and seemed almost certain winners.

Marc Savard began the comeback, however, with 8:01 to play, Byron Bitz made it a one-goal game with 4:25 left and Matt Hunwick tied it with 2:34 remaining.

Blake Wheeler and Savard then scored in the shootout, making the collapse complete.

The Islanders have played three games this year and lost all of them in overtime.

Tuukka Rask allowed three second-period goals, but made 35 saves for the victory.
